About Us

Family-owned and operated since 1964 — serving the Ozarks with compassion, expertise, and the latest hearing technology.

Our Story

In 1964, Dean and Lorraine Brethower founded Mid-West Hearing Aid Service with a simple mission: to help people hear better and live happier lives. What began as a small family practice has grown into one of the most trusted hearing care providers in the Ozarks.

Today, their son Larry Brethower, a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist (BC-HIS), continues the family tradition. With over 60 years of combined experience, our team is dedicated to providing personalized hearing solutions at affordable prices.

We believe that everyone deserves to hear the sounds that matter most — from a grandchild’s laughter to a loved one’s voice. That’s why we offer FREE hearing evaluations and work tirelessly to find the perfect solution for each patient.

Hearing & Your Health

Did you know that untreated hearing loss is linked to a variety of health concerns? Research shows connections between hearing loss and cognitive decline, depression, social isolation, and even an increased risk of falls.

Medications & Hearing: Over 200 medications are known to be ototoxic — meaning they can damage your hearing. Always consult with your doctor about potential hearing side effects.

Heart Health: Your cardiovascular health directly affects your hearing. Good blood flow to the inner ear is essential for healthy hearing.

Tinnitus: That ringing in your ears? You’re not alone. About 50 million Americans experience tinnitus. Modern hearing aids can provide relief through built-in tinnitus masking technology.
